Darcy Doodle
Darcy Lane is quite the interesting creature. Maybe every little kid is like her, but she is ALWAYS into SOMETHING. And when NOTHING is available, she creatively invents SOMETHING for entertainment. Take for instance, the shoe...Notice her lunch stuffed in it. Or the lighter that she turned into a phone. Need a hat? There's always your shorts. Of course, there's the toilet seat that became her new necklace. What a rascal.

The Packers Devastating Loss
My wife hates football. To the best of my knowledge she has never watched an entire game on TV. When I met her I had to explain to her that downs were something like "tries". Sunday evening I came home from church and told her that I was going to watch the Packers and the Giants. I must say that I really have not had a favorite football team since Jimmy Johnson left the Cowboys, but I have been pulling for the Pack since about December. As the game drew near to the end of regulation my wife joined me on the couch for the remainder of the excitement and by default was cheering on the hometown team. Oh the drama! When the Giant's kick went up and was good it only took one image of a Packer on the ground in defeat to send her over the edge. Before you know it she's sobbing in disappointment like she had tied her destiny to their success. It was so ridiculous I burst out laughing, to which Annie responded, "You wouldn't understand, you're not from Wisconsin!" I have never seen anything like this.

We have an announcement to make!
No, I'm not pregnant. This may be news to some of you, and I apologize that we have not been able to call everyone personally...but, that's what a blog is for, right? We made an announcement to our church last Sunday and to Stafford Baptist's church plant, Pillar, this morning. We are applying through the International Mission Board to go back to Iceland as missionaries for two years. This week we finished a very lengthy application process, and if all goes well, in April we will be interviewed for a week in Richmond. Colby would then resign his position at Stafford Baptist in July after we attend our final youth camp July 7-11. In August, we would go to Richmond for a 7 week training with the girls and October/November we would Lord willing be in Iceland. We are asking our church family and whoever is willing to pray for us as we take steps in this direction. We trust that God is in control, and with Him in the driver's seat, we are along for quite a ride this time!

What we did with our snowday
It was too wet to build a snowman, so we opted for an alternative activity. I hope you enjoy the video (just ignore my intensely dramatic reactions to Haley's stellar performance).

Warning to all Parents: Beware of the swivel chair!
Yesterday afternoon I brought the girls down to the basement so they could play in a different part of the house with some different toys. I was doing some work on the computer as they played many rounds of "spin Darcy around on the swivel office chair." After 5 minutes, I was beginning to get dizzy just seeing them out of my peripheral. When I told them they were going to get sick, Haley said, "No we're not; we love this!" I remembered being little and not being as affected as I am now by merry-go-rounds and rolling down hills. I let it go and figured they would be fine. Ten minutes later, the phone rang and I was chatting with Josh Burke when I noticed Darcy was looking a little white as she rode for the 97th time in a circle. I tried to motion to them to stop as I was talking, but the next thing I can remember is Darcy crawling into my lap and throwing up all over me, herself, and the carpet. I hope all of you are spared from a similar experience. I will leave you with a more pleasant picture of Darcy than the one I just described to you.

Geo-cache-ing
Well, my wife has decided to get into geo-caching. If you read the Pelt blog much you know that Jason has long been a proponent of the excitement of searching for treasure unknown. Under his influence Annie told me that she thought today - which was a beautiful January day- would be a great day for our family to take our first geo-caching trip. I suggested that maybe she should try the first round herself and sent her out for the afternoon with a location and a compass. Haven't seen her back yet!

Lost and Found
In December Haley lost her lifelong friend Kitty Ashley in Wal-Mart. Initially Kitty did not show up in the lost and found and Haley went to every department asking the workers whether they had seen a white Kitty - no Luck. After two weeks Annie made one last trip to Wal-Mart and discovered Kitty had spent a couple of weeks in the box. We decided to wrap Kitty Ashley up for Christmas and present her as a surprise to Haley Jane. Have a Look Yourself!

Family Fun Day
Today was the last free Saturday for the winter. Colby and I both are coaching a basketball team for the church's outreach program, Upwards Basketball, and will have games till the beginning of March. We took advantage of the free time and drove to Richmond to check out the Children's Museum. I'll let the pictures paint a thousand words.

New Years Resolution
Well, after much pressure from Jason Pelt, we have now joined the blogging world. It only seems reasonable since I love to journal, take pictures, and record our memories. I don't know how much time I'll be able to devote to it, but Colby can help and it will be a fun family project. Hopefully our friends will still call us and not just read about us. Cindy, you're next!! Happy New Year everyone!!
